Climbing on step stools for cleaning projects as needed.Bending, squatting, stooping for cleaning activities throughout the shift.Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.Frequent exposure to cold/ below freezing and high heat temperatures (walk-in refrigerator, freezers, and ovens).Frequent hip flexion while walking for all tasks.Continuous standing on hard surfaces for many tasks.Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands (pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, fine finger controls, etc.).Frequent reaching above waist, chest and shoulder level as well as and reaching below waist level.Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business.Complies with all company standards related to appearance and uniform standards.Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.Assist others in closing stations and the kitchen. Follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Complete side work for station and shift.Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.Handle, store and rotate all products properly.Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, burners, ovens and refrigeration equipment.Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.Comply with all food safety requirements such as checking and maintaining temperature, dating and labeling products, rotating products so that oldest is used first.Consistently prepare, cook, plate and finish all food items according to Black Bear Diner procedures and standards.Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.Must be able to work in an environment that is often hot, noisy, and congested.The overall responsibility of a Line Cook is in the kitchen and essential to being successful in this role as we expect you to cook great food for customers, so they are satisfied and encouraged to come back to our restaurant.We are a fun, family-friendly concept known for our great homemade food, large portions and genuine, friendly service.
